Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) in Fort McMurray invites students to join our Mine Maintenance, Planning & Reliability team for hands-on experience with heavy equipment and maintenance optimization. You’ll learn from experienced engineers and tradespeople while contributing to reliability improvements and safety.

This 12-month term includes shift work (8 days on, 6 days off, 10-hour shifts) and opportunities to participate in cost analysis, data review, and equipment standards

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical or Mining engineering is preferred.
• Interest in heavy equipment maintenance and reliability.
• Motivated and positive attitude.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
• Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract.
• Must be physically and mentally fit for work.
• Pre-employment drug screening test must be completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing cost-effective maintenance strategies for our fleet of shovels, trucks, and various support equipment.
• Identify equipment bad actors and collaborate with stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions.
• Support condition monitoring by analyzing health data, inspections, and predictive indicators to identify reliability risks.
• Review maintenance histories, costs, and KPIs to identify opportunities for reliability improvement.
• Prepare and compile maintenance and reliability statistics to support availability and cost management.
• Develop and update equipment maintenance standards, procedures and reliability best practices with a strong safety focus.
