Sealand Building Group in Nova Scotia is seeking an experienced Construction Heavy Equipment Operator to join our civil construction team. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will safely operate a range of heavy machines and work with a skilled crew committed to safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in civil construction, 5+ years operating heavy equipment, and experience with GPS machine control (Trimble preferred).

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of civil construction experience.
• Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
• Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble preferred).
• Proven experience with dozer and excavator fine grading.
• Experience installing underground pipe and performing site servicing work.
• Strong understanding of civil construction methods and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment issues.
• Ability to work safely in physically demanding conditions and in varying weather.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong team-first attitude.

Responsabilités

• Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and compactors.
• Complete pre-operation inspections and perform routine equipment checks.
• Perform excavation, grading, fine grading, backfilling, leveling, and compaction to project specifications.
• Read and interpret drawings, grade stakes, and project plans.
• Work closely with supervisors and crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Monitor equipment performance and promptly report mechanical issues.
• Follow all company safety policies and industry best practices.
• Maintain clear communication with the project team regarding progress, site conditions, and any concerns.
• Assist with trench work, pipe installation, grade checking, and other site duties as required to support project operations.
