Job summary

Coast Mountain College invites applications for a non-regular term Instructor in the Heavy Equipment Operator Program. The appointment will commence as soon as possible and end December 11, 2026 (Subject to funding approval).

Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor scale. The Instructor will facilitate learning, ensure student success, oversee program safety during equipment operation and complete related administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Heavy Equipment Operator Journeyperson or a Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate of Qualification with SkilledTradesBC and Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other teaching certification and experience is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ varied field experience as a Journeyperson and 5 years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate learning, course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction and direction.
  • Oversee and ensure program safety during equipment operation and practical instruction, complete related administrative, record-keeping and monitoring activities.

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for non-regular term Instructor in the Heavy Equipment Operator Program. The appointment will commence as soon as possible and end December 11, 2026 (Subject to funding approval). Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor scale.

Duties: The Instructor will facilitate learning and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure program safety during equipment operation and practical instruction, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required

Qualifications

Qualifications: Heavy Equipment Operator Journeyperson (preferred) or a Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate of Qualification with the SkilledTradesBC and Grade 12 or equivalent. A valid Class 1 Driver’s license is an asset. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years’ varied field experience as a Journeyperson and 5 years in a supervisory capacity. A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
