Job summary

SECURE in Edmonton AB is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator (Material Handler) to move, reduce, process, and load recycled metal materials on a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM with rotating Saturdays.

You will work on a safety‑first team, operate grapple and magnet equipped equipment, and contribute to efficient metal recycling operations while developing new skills through cross‑training and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience operating material handlers with grapple and magnet.
• Scrap metal experience preferred.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Positive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to monitor processes, material and operating environment.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Safety conscious.

Responsibilities

• Load railcars with recycled metal materials.
• Operate material handler safely and effectively.
• Move, reduce, process, and load materials per production activity.
• Pile, spread, or sort product by grade for placement on site.
• Understand product/material information.
• Clean and service equipment as scheduled or required.
• Other assigned work as required.

As our Heavy Equipment Operator (Material Handler), you will be responsible for moving, reducing, processing, and loading materials as dictated by production activity. Your organizational and time management skills will play a key role in your success.

The Team

You will be part of a safety-first team where your contributions directly support efficient and sustainable metal recycling operations. Work Environment

This is a Monday to Friday position working 7:00AM to 4:00PM with rotating Saturdays and is located in Edmonton AB.

A Day in The Life

• Load railcars with recycled metal materials
• Operate material handler in a safe and effective manner
• Move, reduce, process, and load materials as dictated by production activity
• Pile, spread, or sort product by grade for appropriate placement on site
• Understand product/material information
• Clean and service equipment as scheduled or required
• Other assigned work as required
