Job summary

Join the Yukon Government in Teslin as a Heavy Equipment Operator 1 (HEOI) within the Transportation team. This full‑time casual position operates a range of equipment to maintain highways, airstrips and facilities across Yukon, with 80 standard hours bi‑weekly and 10% travel.

Preference may be given to Indigenous Yukon First Nation candidates. A Yukon Class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement and TDG certificate are required with training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders or other equipment.
• Experience performing minor maintenance or servicing of equipment, including greasing, adjusting brakes, changing oil, filters, or air filters.
• Experience completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections or other safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment to support construction and maintenance of highways and related facilities across Yukon.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and basic safety checks.
• Work within a team to ensure safe, reliable and timely highway maintenance across Teslin and surrounding routes.
