Job summary

Government of Yukon seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator 1 to join the Transportation team in Swift River, Yukon, offering a full-time position with accommodations provided at the site. You will operate a range of equipment to support highway and airstrip maintenance across the territory.

Responsibilities include safety-focused operation, pre-trip/post-trip inspections, and collaborative work with the HPW team. Willingness to travel throughout Yukon is required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders or other equipment.
• Experience performing minor maintenance or servicing of equipment, including greasing, changing oil, filters or air filters.
• Experience completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections or other safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment to support construction and maintenance of highways, recreational roads and airstrips across Yukon.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety and reliability.
• Assist with routine maintenance and safe operation of equipment as part of a larger transportation team.
