Job summary

Government of Yukon, Department of Highways and Public Works, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator 1 (HEOI) in Watson Lake. The role operates a range of light and heavy equipment to support highway and airstrip maintenance across Yukon.

You will perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections, conduct basic equipment maintenance, and follow safety procedures while working in challenging weather to keep vital routes accessible for the public.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders or similar.
• Experience performing basic maintenance like greasing, changing oil/filters, adjusting brakes.
• Experience completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections or other safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment to support highway and airstrip maintenance across Yukon.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and execute basic safety procedures.
• Assist with routine equipment maintenance and servicing as required.
