Job summary

AFL Telecommunications, LLC is seeking an Equipment Operator for a 1-year contract. The role involves reading construction plans and operating heavy equipment at sites safely, with duties including pre-shift inspections, maintenance, and proper reporting.

Travel to various sites may be required and a clean driving record is preferred. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, coordinating with foremen, and ensuring compliance with AFL safety and environmental policies while representing

Qualifications

• 1+ year of construction experience.
• Experience in Utility Construction – ASSET.
• Ability to understand and work with Utility locates.
• Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spaces.
• Ability to travel to various site-based projects if required.
• Proficiency in driving with a loaded trailer an asset.

Responsibilities

• Read/understand construction plans and blueprints.
• Operate heavy equipment at construction sites safely and effectively.
• Clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed.
• Perform pre-shift inspections, change attachments, lubricate and refill.
• Report mechanical or safety problems per procedures.
• Proactively communicate with foreman, superintendent and coworkers.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation.
• Operate backhoes, track-hoe, skid steers, and other AFL equipment.
• Perform other site duties as required.
• Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
• Represent AFL to the public in line with corporate values.
• Lead by example and adhere to EH&S policies.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
