County of Grande Prairie is seeking a full-time, permanent Heavy Equipment Operator for the Paving and Patching Crew in summer and urban snow removal in winter. The successful candidate will operate equipment such as grader, paver, gravel truck, loader, snowblower and bobcat.

Duties include safe operation, routine maintenance, loading trucks, communicating with colleagues, participating in safety meetings, and performing light labour as required. Experience in asphalt patching is preferred.

Qualifications

• Class 5 Driver's License with clean abstract.
• Class 1 Driver’s License is an asset.
• Experience in asphalt patching preferred.
• Experience towing a trailer.
• Willingness and ability to work long hours including weekends when required.
• Ability to interact with the public and coworkers effectively and courteously.
• Physical ability to perform labour duties.
• Ability to use hand/power tools.
• Experience with Microsoft 365.

Responsabilités

• Operate heavy equipment (grader, paver, gravel truck, loader, snowblower, bobcat) safely.
• Clean, maintain and secure equipment per policies and procedures.
• Load trucks using loaders/backhoes.
• Communicate with coworkers and supervisors.
• Participate in safety meetings.

• Provide labour and related duties as assigned.
• Promote the County’s health and safety program.

Job Description

Transportation and Utilities is looking for afull-time, permanentHeavy Equipment Operator for our Operations Programs team to workprimarily on our Paving and Patching Crewin the summer months and Urban snow removal in winter. The successful candidate will have the capability tooperatevarious pieces of heavy equipment such as grader, paver, gravel truck, loader,snowblowerand bobcat. The position may berequiredto perform general labour duties as needed.Previousexperience in asphalt patching is preferred.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Operating various pieces of heavy equipment in a safe andappropriate manner.
• Clean,maintainand secure all equipment as directed by legislation,policiesand procedures.
• Operate loader and backhoe to load trucks.
• Communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
• Participate in safety meetings.
• Deal with members of the public in a courteous, respectful manner.
• Provide labour or other related duties as assigned.
• Operators have a responsibility to promote andparticipatein the County’s health and safety program, follow safe workproceduresandcomply withOccupational Health and Safety legislation.

Work Schedule:

This position works Monday to Friday 7:00am – 4:30pm for 44 hours per week with some occasional weekends/overtime to meet operational needs.

Hourly Pay:

$36.48 – $42.92.
