Job summary

SECURE is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Fort McMurray, AB. You will operate an Excavator, Dozer, Loader and Trash Compactor, on a 7x7 FIFO camp schedule, supporting a metals and mining operations team.

Candidates should have experience with forestry, construction, or oilfield work; strong safety focus; and the ability to perform pre-start checks and routine maintenance while working extended shifts and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials.
• Landfill operator experience is preferred
• Strong work ethic and ability to work long days and occasional overnights.
• Fit-for-Work each day.
• Excellent communication and ability to follow directions.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating an Excavator, Dozer, Loader and Trash Compactor. This position would be well-suited to individuals with Forestry, Construction or Oilfield industry experience that want to be working closer to home and have a set schedule and hours of work. This role is based out of Fort McMurray, AB.

The Team

The SECURE Metals & Mining team is a group of experienced professionals dedicated to providing innovative and reliable scrap metal recycling services. With a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction, our team operates across strategically located facilities in Western Canada, offering a full range of services from recycling and clean-up to demolition and surplus scrap metal marketing.

Work Environment

This is a 7 x 7 rotation, FIFO, Camp.

A Day in The Life

• Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
• Operator Excavator, Dozer, Loader and Trash Compactor
• Experience with Shears will be considered an asset
• Follow Secures’ operating standards and procedures
• Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and ensure equipment is running properly
• Secure special attachments to equipment
• Operate two-way radios and other communication when required
• Minor repairs to equipment. Report any necessary reports to the supervisor
• Must be able to work varied shift start and finish times, occasional weekends/overtime and occasionally travel away from home location overnight for project-based

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Technical

• Experience operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials.
• Landfill operator experience is preferred
• Strong work ethic and ability to work long days and occasional overnights.
• Fit-for-Work each day.

Interpersonal

• Ability to communicate effectively and express thoughts and ideas in a clear manner.
• Good listening skills along with ability to accept and follow direction.

• Self-starter with the ability to understand operation objectives and can complete tasks with limited supervision.
