Job summary

Battlefield Equipment Rentals in Kitchener, ON is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician (Unlicensed). You will service and repair rental fleet on site and at customer jobsites, ensuring equipment runs safely and reliably.

This role requires strong mechanical skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced team, and willingness to travel across service areas. On-the-job training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Experience as Field Service or Heavy Equipment Mechanic or apprentice with diagnostics skills.
• Valid G class license and clean driving record.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Strong computer skills; familiarity with CAT systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safe work practices and support health and safety programs.
• Repair and service equipment on site or at customer sites.
• Perform inspections on equipment on job sites.
• Order parts in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Travel within service region to Cambridge, Brantford, Guelph, and Kitchener as needed.
• Maintain and organize service vehicles and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a key member of the Service team, the Field Service Technician- Unlicensedplays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively.

Field Service Technician :

• Participate in safe workplace safety, environmentally sound behaviors and practices at all times in support of Battlefield’s health and safety policy programs and initiatives;
• Repair and service equipment on site
• Perform inspections on equipment on job site
• Ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner
• Maneuver efficiently and effectively within the region in all traffic situations
• Provide excellent customer relations in a fast-paced
• Adaptable to on-call work schedules and willing to work in all weather conditions;
• Ensure vehicle is maintained and organized
• This position will service areas across Cambridge, Brantford, Guelph, and Kitchener;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical Experience: An experienced Field Service or Heavy Equipment Mechanic or a 3rd/4th year apprentice with strong diagnostic and failure analysis skills. Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT.
• G Class Driver’s License: Full G Class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Customer Service Oriented: Excellent communication skills and a knack for making customers feel valued.
• Computer Skills:Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered an asset)
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Independent Worker: Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Endurance: Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up 50lbs.
• Safety Focused: A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield’s health and safety policies.
• A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.
• Flexibility to support on-call schedules and adapt to business demands.
• Willing to work in all weather conditions.
• Ensure service vehicles are maintained and organized.
• Hydraulic system knowledge.
