Job summary

Battlefield Equipment Rentals is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician (Unlicensed) based in Guelph, Ontario. You will join our service team to keep rental fleets operating safely and reliably, performing on-site repairs, inspections, and coordination of parts and service calls across Cambridge, Brantford, Guelph and Kitchener.

A strong mechanical background and customer service mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Experienced field service/heavy equipment mechanic or 3rd/4th year apprentice.
• Maintenance and repair of construction equipment including CAT, Genie, Skyjack.
• Valid G-class driver's license with clean record.
• Strong diagnostic and failure analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safe workplace safety, environmentally sound behaviors and practices.
• Repair and service equipment on site.
• Perform inspections on equipment on job site.
• Ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner.
• Travel within the region to service sites across Cambridge, Brantford, Guelph and Kitchener.
• Provide excellent customer relations in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptable to on-call work schedules and variable weather.
• Ensure service vehicles are maintained and organized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 hourly, depending on experience

Field Service Technician :

• Repair and service equipment on site
• Perform inspections on equipment on job site
• Ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner
• Maneuver efficiently and effectively within the region in all traffic situations
• Provide excellent customer relations in a fast-paced
• Adaptable to on-call work schedules and willing to work in all weather conditions;
• Ensure vehicle is maintained and organized
• This position will service areas across Cambridge, Brantford, Guelph, and Kitchener;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical Experience: An experienced Field Service or Heavy Equipment Mechanic or a 3rd/4th year apprentice with strong diagnostic and failure analysis skills. Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT.
• G Class Driver’s License: Full G Class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Customer Service Oriented: Excellent communication skills and a knack for making customers feel valued.
• Computer Skills:Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered an asset)
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Independent Worker: Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Endurance: Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up 50lbs.
• Safety Focused: A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield’s health and safety policies.
• A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.
• Flexibility to support on-call schedules and adapt to business demands.
• Willing to work in all weather conditions.
• Ensure service vehicles are maintained and organized.
• Hydraulic system knowledge.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
• Ownership of personal tools required for the role.
