Job summary

Battlefield Equipment Rentals, part of the Toromont Industries Ltd. family, is seeking a Field Service Technician (Unlicensed) in Cambridge, ON.

The role focuses on keeping rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely and reliably, with on-site repairs, inspections, and parts coordination. The ideal candidate has mechanical experience with heavy equipment, holds a G-class license, and can deliver strong customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experienced field service or heavy equipment mechanic or 3rd/4th year apprentice with diagnostic skills.
• Strong understanding of repairing and maintaining construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT.
• Valid G Class driver's license with clean record.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team and manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working independently with strong time management.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safe workplace practices in line with health and safety policies.
• Repair and service equipment on site.
• Perform inspections on equipment at job sites.
• Coordinate parts orders promptly.
• Navigate region efficiently in traffic.
• Provide excellent customer relations in a fast-paced setting.
• Be adaptable to on-call schedules and weather conditions.
• Maintain and organize service vehicles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position: Field Service Technician Unlicensed
Location: Cambridge, ON
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 /hourly, depending on experience

As a key member of the Service team, the Field Service Technician- Unlicensedplays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively.

Field Service Technician :

• Participate in safe workplace safety, environmentally sound behaviors and practices at all times in support of Battlefield's health and safety policy programs and initiatives;
• Repair and service equipment on site
• Perform inspections on equipment on job site
• Ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner
• Maneuver efficiently and effectively within the region in all traffic situations
• Provide excellent customer relations in a fast-paced
• Adaptable to on-call work schedules and willing to work in all weather conditions;
• Ensure vehicle is maintained and organized
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical Experience: An experienced Field Service or Heavy Equipment Mechanic or a 3rd/4th year apprentice with strong diagnostic and failure analysis skills. Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT.
• G Class Driver's License: Full G Class driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
• Customer Service Oriented: Excellent communication skills and a knack for making customers feel valued.
• Computer Skills:Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered an asset)
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Independent Worker: Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Endurance: Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up 50lbs.
• Safety Focused: A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield's health and safety policies.
• A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.
• Flexibility to support on-call schedules and adapt to business demands.
• Willing to work in all weather conditions.
• Ensure service vehicles are maintained and organized.
• Hydraulic system knowledge.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
• Ownership of personal tools required for the role.
