Job summary

Canfor in Prince George, BC is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to keep our sawmill's mobile equipment operating safely and reliably. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs, using your hands-on expertise to support uptime and equipment reliability.

The role requires Red Seal or interprovincial certificate, experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work overtime as needed in a

Qualifications

Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Interprovincial/Provincial Certificate of Qualification.
Experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty mobile equipment in industrial environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills with diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, drivetrains, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Use diagnostic tools and manuals to identify issues and determine repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component replacements to reduce downtime.
Follow safety standards, lockout procedures, and regulatory requirements in a mill environment.
Complete work orders, maintenance records, parts requests, and related documentation accurately.
Identify recurring issues and suggest reliability improvements.
Collaborate with maintenance and operations to keep the sawmill running safely.
