Job summary

Professional Excavators & Construction Inc. in Calgary is seeking a Journeyman Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy trucks and construction equipment, ensuring safe, reliable operations on fast-paced projects.

You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems, perform preventative maintenance, and mentor apprentices while collaborating with a proactive maintenance team.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Technician or Truck & Transport Mechanic trade qualification is required.
  • Red-Seal Certification is preferred.
  • Valid CVIP/MVI license (or eligible to obtain one).
  • Minimum of a valid Class 5 Provincial driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Assess work orders, diagnose faults and malfunctions by examining the vehicle, using testing equipment, and test drives.
  • Dismantle faulty assemblies and repair or replace worn or damaged parts.
  • Reassemble, adjust and test new or repaired components.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  • Provide detail about repairs so others understand what work has been done and future repair requirements.
  • Keep work areas clean and safe; reduce hazards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and incident investigations.
  • Support development of Heavy-Duty Technician apprentices.

Position Overview

The Journeyman Mechanic at Professional Excavators & Construction Inc. is responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy trucks and construction equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Working independently and collaboratively with the maintenance team, the Journeyman Mechanic applies advanced technical expertise to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems while performing preventative maintenance and major repairs. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and minimizing equipment downtime in a fast-paced construction environment.
