Job summary

The Lake Louise Ski Area Ltd is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprentice to diagnose equipment problems and perform maintenance on a range of heavy-duty vehicles and snow equipment at Lake Louise. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, while contributing to safety practices and efficient operations.

Ideal candidates are in the 3rd or 4th year of their HD Mechanic apprenticeship, can work in all weather, and hold a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean record.

Qualifications

  • HD Mechanic apprentice in 3rd or 4th year actively enrolled in a training program
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Accurate verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skiing/snowboarding skills are an asset
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract and 3-year claims letter

Responsibilities

  • Regular and unscheduled inspections and maintenance of wheeled vehicles, snow equipment, and engines
  • Proficient troubleshooting and safety awareness
  • Report unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisor promptly
  • Improve operations and efficiency in collaboration with teams
  • Diagnose defects in heavy-duty equipment
  • Maintain high safety standards and assist in maintenance projects

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing equipment problems and completing maintenance and repairs on all company vehicles and heavy-duty equipment including snow cats, loaders and excavators.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Regular & unscheduled inspections and maintenance of all wheeled vehicles, over snow equipment, and stationary engines
  • Must be knowledgeable and show a proficient ability to troubleshoot
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with colleagues and other departments
  • Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment
  • Participate in maintaining a high standard of safety
  • Assist in all vehicle and equipment maintenance projects and work with contractors as required
  • Operate all fleet vehicles in order to evaluate the results of previously performed maintenance
  • Complete work orders and projects as assigned
  • Accurate record keeping of regular inspections, maintenance, and projects
  • Work closely with Mountain Operations, Mechanical Services, Parts / Purchasing, and in cooperation with all other resort departments

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Third or Fourth year HD Mechanic apprentice, actively enrolled in a training program
  • Must have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must possess accurate verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skiing/snowboarding skills are an asset
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Able to work supervised & unsupervised
  • Able to prioritize tasks for efficiency
  • Valid Driver’s license (class 5), a clean driving abstract and a clean 3-year claims experience letter provided from your insurance policy is required.
  • Strong knowledge of truck and equipment safety
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • First aid certificate an asset
  • A police background check, from your home country or province, will be required upon commencement of employment

Work Schedule:

7:00am - 5:30pm

4 On/3 Off

Wage: B etween $30.72 - $38.71 per hour depending on experience
