Job description

CertainTeed has an exciting career opportunity for a Heavy Duty Mechanic based in Calgary to join our Board Plant team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.

️ 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday – 7:00am to 3:00pm

Responsibilities Include:

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain all systems on mobile equipment such as forklifts, wheel loaders, and other mobile equipment, including engine, transmission, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul, and maintain mobile equipment with a focus on preventative and predictive maintenance.
• Perform maintenance tasks according to a preventive maintenance program, including verification, disassembly, repair, assembly, adjustment, and overhauls.
• Document and track all work completed using a CMMS system (SAP).
• Develop detailed standard maintenance procedures for each mobile equipment unit based on OEM guidelines to create a robust preventive maintenance program.
• Maintain high safety standards and shop standards, and be motivated to perform at your best every day.
• Occasionally perform work in other trades and support plant maintenance.
• Participate in and support World Class Manufacturing and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Work Environment

• The unionized plant operates on a 24/7 schedule.

• At least 2 years of experience as a mobile equipment mechanic.
• Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Outlook) and ability to adapt to a PC-based maintenance system, CMMS (SAP).
• Effective reading, writing, understanding, and communication skills in English.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Enthusiastic team player who is organized and self-motivated.
