Job summary

JV Driver Group is seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice to join our Kitimat, BC operations. This on-site role involves assisting journeyman mechanics with inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.

You’ll operate tools, complete documentation, and participate in hands-on training while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Location offers a 14/7 rotation and camp accommodations with transportation and flight support as described.

Qualifications

• Active Apprenticeship in Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Program.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Committed to safety and efficiency.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Good analytical ability and manual dexterity.
• Valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
• Pre-access training and drug/alcohol testing required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Journeyman mechanics with inspections, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.
• Participate in hands-on training and mentorship to build skills.
• Collaborate with supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
• Support day-to-day operations and team productivity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist Journeyman mechanics with inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Safely operate and care for hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in daily maintenance activities.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, and other documentation accurately.
• Participate in hands-on training and mentorship opportunities to build technical knowledge and advance mechanical skills.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and maintenance personnel to ensure repairs and maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment while following all company and regulatory safety requirements.
• Support day-to-day operations and contribute to overall team productivity.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Successful candidates are required to have valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract.
• Must be able to complete all pre-access training as identified prior to mobilization.
• Must be able to successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing.

• Schedule: 14 days on / 7 days off rotation
• Shift: Day Shift
• Charter flights provided (Specific Flight Hubs Apply)
