Job summary

JV Driver Group in Kitimat, British Columbia, is seeking a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice to support inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment. The role offers a 14 days on / 7 days off rotation with day shifts, charter flights provided, and camp accommodations on site.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an active HDD Technician Apprenticeship, possess mechanical aptitude, and commit to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Current active Apprenticeship in Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician program.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safe and efficient work practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Good analytical ability and manual dexterity.
• Valid driver's license with clean abstract.
• Able to complete pre-access training prior to mobilization.
• Able to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist Journeyman with inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Operate hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment safely.
• Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.
• Participate in hands-on training to grow skills.
• Collaborate with supervisors to complete tasks efficiently.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment per safety rules.
• Support daily operations and team productivity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist Journeyman mechanics with inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Safely operate and care for hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in daily maintenance activities.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, and other documentation accurately.
• Participate in hands-on training and mentorship opportunities to build technical knowledge and advance mechanical skills.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and maintenance personnel to ensure repairs and maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment while following all company and regulatory safety requirements.
• Support day-to-day operations and contribute to overall team productivity.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Active Apprenticeship in the Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Program
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
• Excellent problem-solving skills required.
• Good analytical ability and manual dexterity.
• Successful candidates are required to have valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract.
• Must be able to complete all pre-access training as identified prior to mobilization.
• Must be able to successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing.

• Location: Kitimat, British Columbia
• Schedule: 14 days on / 7 days off rotation
• Shift: Day Shift
• Charter flights provided (Specific Flight Hubs Apply)
• Transportation available for local residents
