Job summary

GFL in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair heavy duty trucks and equipment. You will maintain diesel, CNG, gas and electric systems, prepare reports, plan repairs, and procure parts.

The role requires adherence to safety standards, strong record-keeping, and ability to work with manuals and training resources. The ideal candidate has at least one year of diesel experience, a high school diploma or GED, and is proficient with diagnostic software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical diploma desired.
• Minimum of one year experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Experience using diagnostic software a plus.
• Must be computer literate and able to learn software systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment.
• Maintain and repair heavy diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated equipment and vehicles.
• Complete reports, work orders, order parts and perform other administrative duties daily.
• Plan and schedule repairs in M5 planner and procure parts for the plan.
• Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule.
• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety regulations.
• Utilize power and hand tools and equipment.
• Provide and maintain tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Adhere to laws, regulations and company policies.
• Assist in training and orientation of new employees.
• Keep up with latest technology via manuals and training seminars.
