Job summary

General Description : A janitor is generally responsible for the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities could be included.

On-Call with flexible scheduling.

Job Duties :

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs, and other surfaces (inside buildings).
• Strip and wax floors, steam clean carpets, and clean windows – on request only.
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior. Wash/spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily. Standard bathroom procedures include damp wiping glass surfaces, emptying waste baskets, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, and sweeping/mopping/scrubbing floors.
• Assist the supervisor with any other tasks as needed.
• Monitor possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and report to supervisors.

There will be showers; employees will need to go between two buildings (across the street from each other).

• Collect building trash daily, placing it in approved containers and designated collection areas for removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers as per specifications.
• Perform high dusting and wall washing.
• Handle compactors, lift up to 50 lbs, operate heavy-duty machines, and change garbage.

Requirements :

• Ability to follow directions, work with minimal supervision, and cooperate as part of a team.
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
• Must have own transportation.
• Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high energy and endurance levels are required.
