Site Description

The Colchester East Hants Health Centre is located in Truro providing addiction services, home care and home nursing services, as well as Tele Health services. It also performs a variety of laboratory and testing services, including breast screening, diagnostic imaging, and more. The main entrance to Colchester is at 600 Abenaki Road, Truro NS B2N 5A1.

Position Details

Position: Full-Time Security Guard

Site: Colchester East Hants

Hours: Rotational Shifts - 0700-1900 / 1900-0700

Payrate: $20.50

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor surveillance systems, operate security cameras and alarm systems, and report suspicious activity.
• Control access points, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
• Respond quickly to emergencies such as medical incidents, fire alarms, or security threats, and assist hospital staff during crises and evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff, providing directions and ensuring adherence to policies.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts professionally, and handle interactions calmly.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and accidents accurately through reports.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement to maintain safety.
• Enforce hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, addressing violations appropriately.

Prerequisites

• Ability to obtain a Security License for Nova Scotia.
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor).
• Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related fields preferred.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
• Option to undergo Paladin's UOF/MOAB training prior to onboarding if lacking certifications. Note: the training is unpaid but covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment.
