Site Description

The Southerland Harris Memorial Centre is located in Pictou. It offers restorative care, veterans services, and outpatient and community-based programs at 222 Haliburton Rd, Pictou NS B0K 1H0.

Position Details

• Position: Full-Time/Casual Security Guard
• Site: Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital
• Hours: Rotational Shifts - 0700-1900/1900-0700
• Payrate: $20.50

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, and entrances, to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor surveillance systems and report suspicious activities immediately.
• Control access points to restrict unauthorized entry.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies, assist during crises and evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff, ensuring adherence to policies.
• De-escalate conflicts and handle interactions professionally.
• Document incidents accurately and complete reports.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement for coordinated security efforts.
• Enforce hospital policies and address violations appropriately.

Prerequisites

• Ability to obtain a Security License for Nova Scotia.
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C.
• Covid vaccination (two doses).
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, and TB skin test.
• Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Previous experience in security or law enforcement preferred.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) required or available through Paladin training.
