Job summary

Atrium Retirement Residence in Orillia, ON is seeking a Health and Wellness Manager to oversee nursing operations, ensure compliance with the Retirement Homes Act, and lead a caring team dedicated to residents' wellbeing.

You will direct care plans, coordinate inter-professional assessments, and drive quality improvement while maintaining health records and staff development. This on-site role emphasizes leadership, regulatory compliance, and compassionate senior care.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• CPR & First Aid Certificate current.
• Experience with medication administration (if medications provided).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• 3–5 years of leadership experience in senior housing.
• Knowledge of the Retirement Homes Act and related legislation.
• Empathy for the needs of seniors.
• Budget management experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and nursing diagnosis.
• Willingness to update knowledge with changing regulations.
• Clear vulnerable sector screen, TB <6 months, flu shot, three work references.

Health and Wellness Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for providing direction to the nursing team in regards to the overall day-to-day delivery of healthcare operations, ensuring that the healthcare services comply with the Retirement Homes Act (RHA) and other relevant legislation.

Wage Rate

The starting annual salary is $69,000.

Vacancy

Responsibilities:

• Assigns, delegates, and evaluates the activities of the nursing department,
• Plans, assigns, and oversees the Residents’ health and personal care services,
• Participates in inter-professional assessments in identifying Residents’ needs and develops an individualized plan of care, ensuring that the resident is receiving the level and quality of agreed-upon care,
• Implements and monitors quality improvement,
• Meets with Residents/Families to resolve problems and concerns,
• Organizes and participates in the Resident care conference on admission and at 6 monthly intervals or as the condition of the Resident changes,
• Maintains accurate and complete health records,
• Reviews pre-medical assessments to ensure that the community is able to provide the care,
• Serves as the Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator for the community,
• Responsible for the recruitment of associates,
• Completes performance appraisals of associates as required,
• Provides ongoing associate education,
• Maintains the staffing schedules,
• Promotes the vision, mission, values, and the Resident Bill of Rights,
• Any and all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• Current registration and in good standing as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario,
• Current CPR & First Aid Certificate,
• Demonstrated experience with medication administration (if medications provided),
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office,
• 3 – 5 years of leadership roles in the senior housing industry,
• Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation,
• Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors,
• Demonstrated experience in managing a budget,
• Effective communication and leadership skills,
• Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act,
• Knowledge of the Nursing practices and nursing diagnosis,
• Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices, and procedures as required by the College of Nurses,
• Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB results in less than 6 months, evidence of flu shot must be able to provide three work references
