We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Health Unit Aide to support our Urgent Primary Care centre located in beautiful Abbotsford, B.C.

Urgent and Primary Care Centres are medical facilities providing ongoing medical care and timely attention for urgent, non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses that should be seen by a healthcare provider within 12 to 24 hours but do not require emergency department services. They are part of the primary and community care system, emphasizing a team-based approach to wrap services around our patients. Learn more

Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Operations or designate, this role is key in ensuring quality and timely care, maintaining efficient client flow, and supporting a safe, welcoming environment. Responsibilities include maintaining supplies, preparing clinic rooms, supporting clinical procedures, processing lab samples, managing financial and administrative tasks, and assisting clients in a compassionate, client-centered manner.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment, monitor levels, process orders, verify invoices, and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Support clinical activities such as setting up rooms, calibrating equipment, and cleaning instruments.
  • Prepare and sterilize equipment, organize supply areas, and manage lab samples and specimens.
  • Handle billing and financial data entry, verification, and correction.
  • Provide administrative support, including distributing informational materials.
  • Perform minor maintenance on department equipment.
  • Create a welcoming, client-centered environment to ensure client comfort and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

Grade 12, completion of a Medical Office Assistant certificate, and one year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Physical ability to perform duties
  • Knowledge of nursing equipment and medical terminology
  • Proficiency in operating related equipment and typing at 40 wpm
