This contractor acts as both lead mechanical and prime lead contactor on many of their projects. They utilize the latest technology and techniques and have a well-established safety culture. Construction Health & Safety experience is required, and there are opportunities for the right professional to lead the department in the future.

Qualifications:

• 8-12+ years of experience in the health and safety field, preferably in a subcontracting environment.
• Experience and/or familiarity with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. Exposure to WSIB and/or COR is preferred.
• Proven track record of working hands-on with employees.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with knowledge of standards, regulations, protocols, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain current knowledge of all safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in revising and updating safety policies as required by regulatory changes, business needs, or new hazards.
• Ensure management and supervisory staff comply with the HS program.
• Organize meetings and communicate planned meeting times.
• Identify and address safety issues with the team.
• Report H&S incidents and statistics to senior management during monthly meetings.
• Assist in training and developing H&S programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Ensure all employees complete required training.
• Train employees on workplace hazards.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the H&S program.
• Promote safe work practices among employees.
• Provide technical advice and guidance on H&S issues.
