Qualifications

Must hold an NCSO designation or demonstrate equivalent safety certification and experience.
Degree or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation and best practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Calm under pressure and capable of influencing safe behavior.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
CPR/First Aid Certification.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

Responsibilities

Joint Health & Safety Committee: Set up and lead meetings, coordinate inspections, investigate work refusals, and collaborate with the Ministry of Labour when needed.
Site Inspections: Conduct regular workplace inspections, ensure corrective actions are followed through, monitor air quality, and help secure the site daily.
Incident & Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency and evacuation plans, provide first aid, investigate incidents, and recommend preventive measures.
Training & Awareness: Deliver site‑specific orientations, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to ensure all trades and workers understand safe work practices.
Administrative Support: Manage permits, inspection reports, qualification tracking, safety boards, and documentation related to compliance and enforcement.
