Job description

You are an HS&E Coordinator responsible for executing and implementing a range of health and safety programs for Telecommunication projects. Your role involves developing and improving Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents, supporting operations personnel to meet Ledcor’s "Leading Indicator" requirements, and leveraging relationships with operational teams to drive continuous HS&E improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct inspections of work areas, meet with field supervisors, and ensure the availability of safety equipment such as protective gear, fire extinguishers, and respirators. Monitor environmental hazards like noise and toxic agents.
  2. Provide HS&E advice and services to field supervisors and employees, conduct safety orientations for new hires, and deliver internal HS&E training as needed.
  3. Collaborate with the HS&E manager and coordinators to develop, revise, and implement procedures, standards, and regulations. Educate and mentor field supervisors on program implementation.
  4. Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  5. Ensure HS&E plans, safe work procedures, and hazard assessments are current and updated with project scope changes. Support site leadership with planning.
  6. Assist in incident investigations, determine causes, and support the development of corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  7. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of HS&E plan implementation.
  8. Audit hazard assessments and incident reports for accuracy and completeness.
  9. Support safety meetings and toolbox talks by preparing relevant materials for site leadership.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in construction or telecommunications safety roles, with preference for Telecom experience.
  • Certificate or diploma in occupational health and safety; CRSP, CSO, or NCSO designation is an asset.
  • Technical knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for engaging with workforce, management, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Proactive safety approach, with skills in risk assessment, program development, training, and incident investigation.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to tailor communication to different audiences, explain complex information clearly, and influence others.
  • Team-oriented attitude with adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
