Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor - Telecommunications

Description

You are an HS&E Coordinator, playing a key role in implementing health and safety programs for telecommunication projects. Your responsibilities include developing Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents, supporting operations personnel to meet Ledcor’s "Leading Indicator" requirements, and leveraging relationships with operational teams to drive continuous HS&E improvement. You should be a problem solver, a strong communicator, and innovative in supporting projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Conduct work area inspections and meet with field supervisors to address potential problems, ensuring safety equipment and monitoring environmental hazards.
• Provide HS&E advice to field supervisors and employees, conduct site safety orientations, and deliver internal HS&E training as needed.
• Collaborate with HS&E managers and coordinators to develop, revise, and implement procedures, standards, and regulations; mentor field supervisors on program implementation.
• Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure HS&E plans, safe work processes, and hazard assessments are current and updated with scope changes; support site leadership with planning.
• Assist in incident investigations, determine causation, and develop corrective actions for continuous improvement.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of HS&E plan implementation.
• Audit hazard assessments and incident reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Support safety meetings and toolbox talks with relevant materials for site leadership.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in construction or telecommunications safety roles; telecom experience preferred.
• Certificate or diploma in occupational health and safety; CRSP, CSO, or NCSO designation is an asset.
• Technical knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and equipment.
• Effective communication skills for diverse audiences, including workforce, management, clients, and stakeholders.
• Proactive safety approach, with skills in risk assessment, program development, training, and incident investigation.
• Strong computer skills with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to adapt communication style, explain complex information clearly, and influence others.
• Team-oriented, adaptable to changing priorities.
• Valid provincial driver’s license and driver’s abstract required.
• Completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
