Job summary

Wright Construction is seeking a Temporary Full Time HSE Coordinator to join our Saskatoon team. The role spends most time on site, travels between sites, and follows a Monday to Friday pattern with occasional shifts or locations changing as required.

The position requires a CSO designation (NCSO assets encouraged), 2–5 years of construction safety experience, and strong communication. Travel, safety training, and ongoing development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • CSO designation preferred; NCSO asset.
  • 2–5 years of related construction safety experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Certifications in end user training (e.g., Fall Protection, WHMIS, Power Mobile Equipment).
  • Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect worksites to monitor safety compliance and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Develop and review Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA), Job Hazard Assessments (JHA), Safe Work Practices (SWP), and Safe Job Procedures (SJP).
  • Support planning and startup of new projects with safety requirements.
  • Lead weekly safety meetings and assist with toolbox talks.
  • Conduct site orientations and new worker safety orientations.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare related documentation.
  • Keep management updated on safety issues impacting work.
  • Ensure site safety documentation and statistics are forwarded to stakeholders.

We have an exciting opportunity available – We are seeking a Temporary Full Time HSE Coordinator to join our team in Saskatoon, SK.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This role will be responsible for inspecting worksites and rectifying any unsafe acts or conditions, provide training, support site supervision, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing the worksite. This position spends most of the workweek on site, and is required to travel between a rotation of sites. The position is designed primarily to be a Monday to Friday shift pattern, however, schedules, shifts and locations may change from time to time to meet operational and training requirements.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Regularly monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors; conduct site inspections and institute remedial action if required.
  • Assist with the development and review of the Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA), Job Hazard Assessments (JHA), Safe Work Practices (SWP), and Safe Job Procedures (SJP).
  • Assist in the planning and startup of new projects with respect to safety requirements.
  • Research, prepare and deliver weekly safety meetings and assist operations with preparation of toolbox meetings
  • Site orientations and new worker safety orientations.
  • Conduct investigations and complete related documentation.
  • Investigate all situations where a worker has refused to work based on safety conditions.
  • Keep the Management team current on the status of any issue(s) that may impact the work being performed.
  • Ensure all site-specific statistics, workforce hours and documents are prepared as needed and forwarded to the Safety stakeholders and Managers.
  • Attend all applicable company and client safety meetings
  • Be familiar with all required aspects of the Wright Construction Safety Manual and all applicable legislation and regulations that impact the Construction industry.
  • Ensure new employees are safety orientated, and all required safety documentation is completed and forwarded to the appropriate departments.
  • Ensure Site Superintendents and safety team are maintaining and updating safety boards. This includes, but is not limited to: Safety Policies, Inspection and audit results, Hazard assessments, location of first aid, and trained employees on site.
  • All other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Designation is preferred.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is considered an asset.
  • 2-5 years of related experience. Construction experience preferably with a General Contractor in the Commercial and/or Institutional sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of the Act and Regulations.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Certifications in various end user training courses are required. (ie: Fall Protection, WHMIS, Power Mobile Equipment, etc.)
  • Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level responsibilities and tasks.
