Health, Safety & Environment Advisor, Fort McMurray

We are seeking a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor based in Fort McMurray, AB. This is a temporary position from April 1st to August 31st, supporting mechanical shutdowns in the area, with maintenance work in between. The shift schedule includes 4x10-hour days Monday–Thursday during maintenance and 6 days on/1 day off or 12 days on/2 days off shifts of 12 hours during turnaround, including both day and night shifts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing risk management support to achieve a unified HSE program
  • Leading the implementation and maintenance of HSE programs/systems (Hazard ID, BBS, Site Reviews, Training, etc.)
  • Liaising with clients, third parties, and internal teams, including delivering presentations on HSE progress
  • Ensuring timely accident and incident investigations and reporting
  • Maintaining and developing HSE documentation
  • Conducting audits and monitoring compliance with company and client expectations
  • Participating in safety meetings and providing relevant information
  • Identifying coaching opportunities and promoting a strong safety culture as an HSE mentor

Role Specifications:

  • 3-5+ years of HSE experience or relevant diploma/certificate
  • CRSP certification is an asset
  • Operational experience in upstream/downstream oil industry is an asset
  • Trade and turnaround experience are assets
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Valid Class G driver's license with a clean abstract
  • Willingness and ability to travel
