Assist in fostering a progressive, proactive, health and safety culture.
- Provide guidance and support to all levels of staff to ensure compliance with Dillon’s HS Management System and provincial occupational health and safety legislation.
- Act as a resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee, all regional employees including Managers, Supervisors, and the National HS team.
- Support and coach Project Managers (PMs) in developing project H&S Plans.
- Support and coach Supervisors and workers in executing project H&S Plans.
- Support and coach office H&S Representatives.
- Perform worksite audits and inspections.
- Investigate incidents to determine root causes, draft alerts, learnings, and corrective actions.
- Make recommendations to improve HS practices and conditions.
- Review hazard and incident reports.
- Participate in developing new HS strategies, objectives, systems, and programs.
- Deliver HS orientation and training.
- Present H&S topics at office and team meetings.
- Develop, update, and implement Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) as required.
- Liaise with Provincial and Federal HS Regulators as needed.
- Assist in tracking and reporting HS performance and statistics.
- Contribute to achieving local, regional, and national HS priorities and objectives.
- Research and identify best practices.
- Provide ongoing HS communication with internal stakeholders.
- Travel frequently to project sites and Dillon offices.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in HS or equivalent.
- Canadian HS designation is preferred (CRSP / T, CSO, NCSO, etc.).
Experience
- High commitment to a safety culture.
- 3-7 years of full-time experience in HS within a large, multifaceted operation.
- Experience in engineering, construction, or consulting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge and interpretation skills of OHS & WCB legislation.
- Experience in developing and working with HS Management systems (OHS18001, ISO 45000, QMS).
- Preferred qualifications include internal or lead auditor certifications (OHSAS18000, ISO14000, ISO 45000, COR).
- Experience with reporting software and databases for dashboard and report generation.
- Deep understanding of HS principles and practices.
- First aid and CPR certification are beneficial.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify alternative solutions.
- Effective interpersonal skills to interact with all organizational levels, demonstrating diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and adaptable.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities.
- Willingness to travel for business as required.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
