About the Opportunity

The Health Outcomes Scientist reports to the Director of the Implementation Science Team and is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in the development, management, and evaluation of health outcomes projects across Nova Scotia Health (NSH). Working closely with senior health system leaders, the Health Outcomes Scientist provides leadership in the design, conduct, analysis, reporting and publishing of research on health outcomes and quality improvement across the Nova Scotia health system.

More specific accountabilities include:

  • Conducting analyses and reviews to identify gaps in knowledge, and then using these reviews and analyses to design and implement plans to address identified gaps
  • Leading and guiding initiatives related to evaluation and rapid evidence syntheses
  • Developing evaluation frameworks and strategies and providing technical assistance and consultation to teams regarding evaluation
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to facilitate the uptake of evidence-based practice
  • Analyzing data and presenting findings at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications
  • Providing mentorship and supervision to learners and students in the Network of Scholars
  • Developing and delivering training programs on evaluation
  • Engaging in professional development activities to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field
  • Participating in grant writing and fundraising efforts to support health system activities
About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., health sciences, public health, psychology, health policy, health systems)
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience leading evaluation projects in a health system setting
  • Proficient in quantitative research methodologies, program evaluation and modeling
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data from large datasets using various statistical analysis software packages (e.g. SAS, STATA, SPSS, R, etc.)
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supervising students and learners
  • Knowledge of health systems and policy development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and research design
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects
Hours
  • Full-time, long assignment (75 hours bi-weekly)
  • One-year long assignment beginning as soon as possible
  • This is hybrid role. Some travel across the province may be required.
Compensation and Benefits

$48.17 - $60.21 Hourly
$93,927 - $117,408 Annually
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
