Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Health Information & Data Integrity, the incumbent will provide expertise in the development and implementation of training programs to support health systems users within Shared Health and across the province:
- Analyze training requirements to support ongoing operational and project needs.
- Develop and maintain training strategies and material (e.g., Quick Reference Guides, workflow diagrams) to meet operational and project requirements.
- Engage with stakeholders using change management strategies throughout implementation and enhancement processes in both project and operations environments.
- Support implementations of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and other health systems to address training requirements.
- Support Health Information and Data Integrity operational and project initiatives through planning, document management and information management with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate and participate in the orientation of new employees and ongoing staff health systems training for project and operational activities.
- Ensure that training material and strategies, and other Health Information and Data Integrity documentation, are standardized and adhere to site, regional, and provincial policies.
- Develop and maintain documentation to support provincial standardization of registration and other health information processes.
- Utilize a variety of media to create training material such as videos, PowerPoint presentations and Quick Reference Guides.
- Incorporate an evaluation component into training material to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Support users through troubleshooting and the management of the HIS Support Group phone and email.
- Collaborate with appropriate Solutions Groups at Digital Shared Services to ensure optimal functioning, integration, and implementations of the health systems used in provincially.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a health information services environment required.
- Experience in the planning and coordination of educational or professional programming including: analyzing training requirements, course development, facilitation, implementation, evaluation and scheduling.
- Sound understanding of EPR and other health information systems in order to develop corresponding training strategies.
- Experience working with multiple disciplines and across the health system is an asset.
- Experience with change management and project management methodologies.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Licenses and registrations consistent with educational and professional background.
- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
- Certification in Adult Education and e-learning technologies an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated staff level leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning educational techniques in order to develop or customize and train new or existing employees on systems applications.
- Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to present effectively to large or small groups.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organization, time management, interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as required to accommodate service requirements of source system organizations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
- Ability to work under pressure, to meet competing demands and deadlines, and to deal effectively with difficult and sensitive situations. Interruptions to respond to questions are common; incumbent can schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration.
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
- Hours of work may be adjusted to evenings, nights or week end shifts as required to meet training requirements.
- Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.
