Job summary

The AgeCare Ltd. Health Care Aide (HCA) position in New Westminster, BC offers part-time hours in a supportive care setting.

You will work under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, assisting residents with daily activities, personal care and mobility, while adhering to care plans and safety protocols. Ideal candidates have at least one year of continuing care experience, English fluency, and a PCA/HCA certificate.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment is preferred.
• Post-secondary education an asset.
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
• Completion of a recognized Personal Care Aide (PCA/HCA 2002 or greater) Certificate Course or Equivalent Education Certificate.
• Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well‑being.
• Transfer/assist with resident transfers using ceiling lifts and transfer belts.
• Feed/assist with feeding residents and refer to care plans for diet.
• Provide routine treatments and care procedures under the Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to travel about the facility and to dining areas.
• Accompany residents to beauty parlor, physio and recreation activities.
• Attend social and therapy functions within the facility.
