Job summary

Thrive Group is hiring a Part-Time Health Care Aide for Bethany Residence in Burlington. The role focuses on non-medical support, life skills, and light housekeeping to help residents live independently.

Position requires a High School Diploma and experience with mental health and/or seniors; additional certifications are preferred. English proficiency is required; other languages are an asset. HOOPP, benefits, and education opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma and experience in the provision of personal support services to people with mental health and concurrent disorders, disabilities and/or seniors are requirements for this position.
  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or other related qualification preferred.
  • The ability to empathize with people with physical, emotional and social needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements are required.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively are also essential.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are requirements.
  • Able to communicate in other languages is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide non-medical support, life skills, mental health support, laundry, and light housekeeping to residents.
  • Assist residents with personal care and escort them to appointments.
  • Follow resident care plans and relevant laws and contracts governing service provision.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to ensure high quality care.

Job description

We are currently hiring Part-Time Health Care Aides to join our team at our Bethany Residence program in Burlington.

Located in Burlington, Bethany Residence is owned by the Halton Region and operated by AbleLiving Services with 128 beds. Bethany offers shared bedroom accommodation with all meals included as well as life skills, recreation and housekeeping supports in a large congregate setting.

This position is responsible for providing non-medical support services, life skills, mental health support, laundry, and light housekeeping duties to enable residents to live as independently as possible. Duties include assisting residents with personal care, arranging and escorting residents to appointments, and providing housekeeping services. Such duties are carried out under the direction of the resident, their care plan, and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws, and regulations governing service provision.

  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Job Type: Part-Time

Starting Hourly Rate: $21.00
