Job summary

AgeCare in Calgary is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our care team, supporting residents with daily living activities and care plans under the supervision of a Staff Nurse. The role emphasizes safe transfers, meal support, personal care, and participation in therapy and social activities.

The successful candidate will have a PCA/HCA certificate, CLHA registration, and at least one year of relevant experience, with fluent English communication and a collaborative, compassionate approach

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA certificate or equivalent education.
• Active registration with the CLHA is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform bathing, showering, and personal care per the care plan and water temperature procedures.
• Assist with transfers and mobility using appropriate lifts and devices.
• Support feeding during meals and snacks according to dietary plans.
• Provide routine treatments as directed by a Staff Nurse.
• Escort residents to dining, activities, and therapy sessions.
• Support residents in moving around the facility and accessing services.

Work Location: Mount RoyalAddress: 1813 9 street SW, Calgary, ABFTE: 1.0Employment Type: Temporary Full timeExpected End Date: April 28, 2028The OpportunityA Health Care Aide (HCA) works as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care, to meet individual needs within the level of knowledge, skill sets & competency. The HCA, under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, applies this knowledge and these skills to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
