Job summary

The Health Care Aide (HCA) at Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre, part of Carewest's Rehabilitation and Community Transition Program, provides ongoing client care as a regulated member of the interprofessional team.

Responsibilities include observing and reporting on client status, and delivering prescribed medications accurately, in line with Carewest policies and procedures, while maintaining professional standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with Alberta Health Care Aide program completion.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Physically capable of frequent lifting, transferring, and repositioning clients.
• Active and current registration with CLHA.
• Related health care facility experience is an asset.
• Program-specific training/experience is an asset.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care.

The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure.

In keeping with Carewest's Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary

Rehabilitation and Community Transition Program (RCTP) - a short-stay restorative care program that supports medically stable adults who do not need an acute-care level of service, but may require additional assessment, recuperation, and therapy before returning to the community.

Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required.
• Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
• Active and current registration with CLHA required.
• Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
• Program specific training/experience is an asset.
