Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences in Victoria, BC is hiring Health Care Aides for new openings. Roles include full-time, part-time, and casual shifts with days and evenings.

You will provide compassionate, hands-on support to residents, assisting with personal care, daily living activities, and medication administration. We seek empathetic, patient individuals who communicate clearly, work well in a team, and uphold safety and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• Secondary school completion required; PSW/HCA/DSW certification preferred.
• Experience in personal care, food service, or hospitality is an asset.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions clearly.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting seniors.
• Team player with interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care including hygiene, grooming, mobility, and meals.
• Support daily living activities such as laundry, housekeeping, and dining service.
• Administer medications per residence policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods and perform tasks involving bending, lifting, and carrying
• Must be in good physical and mental health
• Willingness to wear personal protective equipment and follow safety protocols
• Flexibility to respond to emergency situations when needed
• Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
