Job summary

SE Health is hiring and invites dedicated RCWs to join a national social enterprise focused on seniors health. You will work within a collaborative care team to support residents to live and age well, applying up-to-date best practices with heart.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, medication reminders, meal preparation, observation, and documentation. A supportive, respectful, and proactive approach is expected, with flexibility for shifts.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 completion is required.
  • Health Care Aide/Residential Care Aide certificate or equivalent.
  • Food Safe certificate is preferred.
  • Registration with BC Care Aide Association is required.
  • Driver’s license (Class 4) is an asset and may be supported.
  • Immunization and TB testing up to date.
  • Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check within 12 months.
  • First Aid and CPR Level C must be current.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (eating, transfers, bathing, hygiene).
  • Administer medications and provide reminders per policy.
  • Plan and prepare meals and do shopping as needed.
  • Observe clients and report changes or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain care records and progress notes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities/duties
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene and toileting
  • Perform delegated tasks for duties such as catheter care, suppositories, non-sterile dressings and mobilization routines for complex care clients
  • Administer medication to clients and provide medication reminders, in accordance to established policy
  • Plans, prepares and serves meals and shops for groceries
  • Observes clients and their environments and report unsafe conditions and behavioral and physical changes
  • Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as communication books and progress notes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 completion
  • Health Care Aide/Residential Care Aide certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Registration with BC Care Aide Association
  • Class 4 BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset (Monetary assistance provided to obtain class 4)
  • Up to date immunization record including a current TB test within 1 year.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 12 months
  • Current Standard First Aid & Level C CPR
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team, with excellent organizational skills to manage your schedule.
  • Compassionate, respectful, and sincere manner, with ability to deal with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner Effective problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • This is a physically demanding position and requires hand, arm and shoulder dexterity, sensory ability, lifting to a maximum of approximately fifty-five (55) pounds, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent movement.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Home Management skills
  • Flexible working hours – able to work overnight, evening and weekends
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to organize and prioritize
  • Experience with quadriplegics and behavioral conditions such as Dementia & Autism would be an asset
