Your Opportunity:
Under supervision and direction of the RN, RPN, LPN (Licensed Healthcare Professional), the Health Care Aide (HCA) provides direct care to clients in their homes, in both community and lodge settings.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living as outlined in the care plan, such as personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and mobilizing.
- Offering emotional support by being a good listener, supportive, friendly, sincere, and interacting positively and optimistically.
- Providing respite care to relieve family caregivers, including companionship, recreational activities, and supervision.
- Performing healthcare duties authorized on the client’s care plan, such as dressing changes, medication assistance, catheter and ostomy care, and exercises for movement and strength.
- Providing essential housekeeping services to support the client’s activities of daily living, enhancing the prospects for maintaining them in their home/community.
This position is based out of Didsbury Home Care, serving Didsbury, Carstairs, Cremona, Water Valley, Crossfield, and surrounding rural areas.
Description:
As an HCA, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance and support services to patients who require short-term or ongoing support, in accordance with care plans and policies.
Your role includes supporting activities of daily living, assisting nurses with routine care, and helping meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs. You will observe and report on patients’ mood, health, and wellbeing, and help maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Salary Range: $20.78 - $26.03 per hour
Vehicle Requirement: Driver's License and Vehicle required
Qualifications include:
- Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
- Proof of enrolment or qualification, including practicum hours for nursing students.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS-HCP).
- Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, and work independently.
- Medication Assistance Certificate or experience preferred.
- Experience working with older or chronically ill individuals is preferred.
- Good time management and adaptability to shift patterns.
Note: A vehicle is required for this position, and the office serves multiple communities in the area.
