Health and Safety Manager - Future Opportunity

Our expertise includes designing and constructing major infrastructure for sustainable mobility, hydropower, water, and green buildings.

Over the past century, we have built some of the world's most iconic infrastructure projects, such as the Metro 4 Line in Milan, a section of Line 16 of the Grand Paris Express, the Sydney Metro Northwest viaduct and bridge, Riyadh Metro Line 3, high-speed railways in Italy, the Panama Canal expansion, and the Al Bayt Stadium for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In Canada, our notable current projects include the Pape Tunnel Underground Station for the Ontario Line, RSSOM, and Hurontario LRT.

We are seeking candidates for the role of Health and Safety Manager, anticipated to commence in summer 2025.

Position Summary

The Health and Safety Manager will lead, support, and advise on all aspects of health and safety, assess the implementation of the H&S program, and develop or deliver related training as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, standards, and programs for employee and passenger safety.
  • Manage regulatory compliance and emergency preparedness to ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure adherence to H&S requirements at construction sites according to the company's standards, customer requirements, and government regulations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly safety reports and statistics.
  • Assist in updating and implementing the health and safety plan.
  • Identify risks and establish control measures through safe work procedures, Job Safety Analysis, and hazard assessments.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections regularly.
  • Support toolbox talks and safety training sessions.
  • Record, investigate, and perform root cause analysis on accidents and incidents.
  • Coordinate health and safety aspects of site activities.
  • Provide site-specific orientation and safety training.
  • Coordinate First Aid, emergency response, and fire protection programs.
  • Maintain ISO 45001 and COR certification at the site.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation processes as required.
Qualifications and Education
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager, preferably on major construction projects (7+ years).
  • Certification as a Health and Safety Officer (NCSO-IHSA, CRSP, or equivalent).
  • Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems, including ISO 45001 and COR.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, with experience in construction environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
