Job summary

Solotech in Quebec is seeking an experienced Events Technician to supervise installation and teardown of technical equipment for local events, ensuring safety and alignment with plans.

You will collaborate with clients and staff, develop schedules, review CAD drawings (AutoCAD), oversee technicians, perform on-site testing, and travel to sites as required; leadership and teamwork are essential.

The role requires bilingual communication in French and English and flexible hours.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Diploma in Electrical Technology (AEC or DEC) or Audiovisual Technology.
  • Relevant experience in the exhibition and trade show industry.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret CAD drawings using AutoCAD; the ability to modify and create drawings is considered an asset.
  • Experience and skills in rigging and electrical work.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on operational requirements.
  • Ability to travel to site.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of effectively managing priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead setup and teardown of technical equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and participate in these activities when required.
  • Ensure that equipment is properly installed and aligned with event plans and specifications.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a high level of customer service.
  • Ensure that Solotech employees and temporary staff follow safe work practices at all times.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for service requests (evenings and weekends), as needed.
  • Develop labor and staffing schedules.
  • Receive project requests, plan requirements, and prepare equipment lists based on project needs.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from clients.
  • Coordinate operations and oversee the work execution of all technicians.
  • Adhere and promote Solotech's procedures and policies regarding equipment handling and management.
  • Supervise the installation and dismantling of equipment.
  • Ensure the security and safety of installations at all times.
  • Ensure equipment operates properly and that all technical aspects of the event run smoothly.
  • Identify solutions to technical challenges and recommend improvements for project execution.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders involved in project delivery.
  • Act as a client liaison, in partnership with the Client Services Coordinator, as required.
  • Perform any other related duties necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
