Job description

The Head Staff Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking 70-90 staff meals daily during the operational season, while managing a team of three staff members. The role involves maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen, along with completing various administrative duties.

During the non-operational season, the Head Staff Cook prepares 10-30 staff meals daily, working independently, while ensuring the kitchen remains organized, clean, and functional. Administrative responsibilities continue during this period.

Job Duties
  1. Set expectations and hold the team accountable for demonstrating desired service behaviors in accordance with Relais and Chateaux standards.
  2. Receive, clean, and store all products arriving from the dock following the chef’s standards.
  3. Ensure all daily and weekly cleaning tasks are completed to standard.
  4. Maintain workstations to the chef’s standards.
  5. Prepare scratch-made lunches and dinners daily, including vegetarian options and special dietary needs.
  6. Provide snacks and a sandwich bar for staff between mealtimes.
  7. Assist the Executive Chef with scheduling, ordering, and receiving products.
  8. Help clean and scrub the entire kitchen at the end of each service day.
  9. Maintain effective working relationships and clear communication with colleagues and departments.
  10. Complete selected daily administrative duties.
Qualifications
  1. Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  2. Fluent in English; second language is an asset.
  3. First Aid certification is an asset.
  4. Current Food Safe Certificate.
  5. Culinary Arts Levels 1, 2, or 3.
  6. Red Seal certification is an asset.
  7. Minimum of three years of cooking experience; experience in a live-in resort preferred.
  8. At least one year of supervisory experience required.
