Job summary

BYD Canada seeks an experienced Commercial Director to lead market development and sales operations nationwide. About the Role

As a senior leadership position with a stronger emphasis on market entry, dealer network development, and strategic growth, we are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Commercial Director to lead our market development and sales operations across the country.

Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Market Development
  • Lead the nationwide sales strategy for BYD Passenger Vehicles in Canada, driving sustainable growth and achievement of sales objectives.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with business goals, market opportunities, and customer needs.
  • Establish, develop, and manage a high-performing dealer network while building strong relationships with key business partners and stakeholders.
  • Identify market opportunities, customer trends, competitive activities, and industry developments to formulate effective go-to-market strategies.

Business Performance & Sales Analytics
  • Monitor sales performance, market trends, and business KPIs to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, market analyses, and management reports.
  • Develop data‑driven sales strategies to optimize market share, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Track competitor activities and recommend actions to strengthen BYD's competitive position.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product Planning, Supply Chain, Aftersales, and Operations teams to support successful market expansion.
  • Coordinate vehicle allocation, inventory planning, and logistics activities to ensure efficient product availability.
  • Support the execution of marketing campaigns, product launches, and brand‑building initiatives across Canada.
  • Act as a key contributor to the overall growth strategy of BYD Passenger Vehicles in Canada.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Automotive Management, International Trade, or a related discipline;
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience within the automotive industry.
  • Proven success in national sales management, dealer network development, and market expansion.
  • Experience launching or scaling a passenger vehicle brand within Canada is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian automotive market, including dealer operations, retail sales channels, and customer purchasing behaviors.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel internationally when required.
  • Fluency in English is required; French language proficiency is considered a strong asset.
