Job summary

Q Wealth Asset Management in Toronto is seeking a Head of Manager Research and Portfolio Manager to lead the firm’s manager research, approved-product oversight and fund-of-funds strategies. You will evaluate global managers across equities, fixed income, liquid alternatives and private markets, and serve as PM for fund-of-funds mandates.

This role acts as gatekeeper for private-market products, builds relationships with external managers, negotiates fees and contributes to investment

Qualifications

Eight+ years in institutional manager research, investment consulting, portfolio management or fund selection.
Experience leading a manager-research function at a bank, investment dealer or asset manager preferred.
Experience evaluating investment managers across equities, fixed income, alternatives or private markets.
Strong analytical, writing and public-speaking capabilities.
Eligibility for registration as Portfolio Manager in Canada preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead manager research, due diligence and approved-product oversight across equities, fixed income, liquid alternatives and private markets.
Screen global manager universe using institutional tools (eVestment) and support multi-manager portfolio construction.
Organize and document due-diligence meetings for current and prospective managers.
Monitor managers through performance, risk and investment-process reviews, including annual due diligence.
Present proposed manager additions, changes or removals to investment committees with supporting analysis.
Serve as gatekeeper for private-market products used by advisors and maintain the approved-product list.
