Job summary

Chief Paul Niditchie School in Tsiigehtchic is seeking a Head Cook to provide breakfast, lunch and snacks for about 44 students. The Head Cook reports to the Principal and ensures meals meet territorial and regional standards, including GNWT Healthy Food for Learning.

Responsibilities include planning daily menus with the Principal, food purchases and inventory control, and preparing nutritious meals while addressing dietary needs.

Qualifications

• A commercial cooking program and one year of experience working in a school, camp, daycare, elders' care home, health centre, institutional kitchen, or similar setting.
• CPR and Basic First Aid Training
• Food Safety Training (Food Handling Certification)

Responsibilities

• Plan daily menus in consultation with the Principal and ensure meals meet high nutritional standards.
• Purchase food and manage inventory to ensure economical use of the budget.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for students, staff and visitors, including breakfast, lunch and snacks.
