Job summary

A popular café and bakery in Calgary is seeking a skilled cook to join their permanent team. The ideal candidate will prepare and cook meals, supervise kitchen staff, and plan menus to ensure high food quality. They will also assist newcomers and Indigenous community members, providing support and training. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required along with a secondary school graduation certificate. This role offers 30 hours per week in a dynamic workplace.

  • Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks
Support for newcomers and refugees
  • Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.)
  • Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.)
Support for Indigenous people
  • Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations
  • Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers
