The Job in a Nutshell:
The Head Cashier is responsible for the successful operation of the front end by cashiering, training, directing, and monitoring cashiers, providing World Class Customer Service, and supporting overall store operations.

Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing World Class Customer Service and a positive customer experience as the top priority.
- Exemplifying integrity, responsibility, and excellence, and adhering to all policies.
- Training all cashiers and ensuring they:
- Communicate about the {N}Power program with customers.
- Notify customers that we donate $.05 to the local foodbank for every transaction using a reusable bag.
- Educate customers on the Nutrient to Know About.
- Promote store seminars and events.
- Complete the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cashier closeout responsibilities.
- Issue and verify cash drawers.
- Handle returns and overrides at the front end.
- Address customer complaints appropriately.
- Ensure front end sets are full and well-maintained.
- Oversee completion of the front end task list daily.
- Maintain all register binders.
- Direct cashiers to tasks during slow times.
- Perform general cashiering duties including running registers, bagging/boxing groceries, and providing carry-out service.
- Monitor, assign, and perform cart checks.
- Answer the telephone.
- Assist in managing special orders.
- Monitor, assign, and grind nut butters.
- Learn product locations across all departments to assist customers.
- Participate in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock as needed.
- Work a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position requires working five days, 40 hours per week, and attending mandatory store meetings.
- This position has limited Manager on Duty responsibilities but is not the overall Manager on Duty for the store.
All employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and support the company's success.
Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in retail, especially in a grocery or natural foods environment, is preferred.
- At least 1 year of cashiering experience preferred.
- At least 1 year of supervising others preferred.
- Ability to pass food safety training and maintain certifications as required by law.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused.
- Sense of urgency in completing tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
