Pembina Trails School Division is seeking a Head Caretaker for Beaumont School in Winnipeg. The role manages daily facilities operations, oversees cleaning staff, and responds to emergencies to ensure a safe and functional environment. Start date October 5, 2026, with a Monday–Friday 6:30 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m. shift. Candidates should have Grade 12 or equivalent, a 5th Class Power Engineers' Certificate, and two years of building operations experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Desirable: building operations and power engineering course.
• Two years of building operations experience; ability to use web-based work orders and email.
• Must lead caregiving staff effectively; strong English communication; available for day shifts and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintains routine communication with Principal and Operations Supervisor regarding progress of maintenance and use of space.
• Reports thefts, break-ins, vandalism or abuse of school property.
• Communicates concerns of caretaking staff to Principal/Operations Supervisor.
• Inspects facility for safety and comfort; checks HVAC and reports malfunctions.
• Ensures entrances and emergency exits are clean and clear of debris or snow.
• Maintains cleaning duties and cleanliness of facilities; cleans washrooms and surfaces.
• Maintains grounds: sidewalks, lawns, and safety of access routes.
• Maintains equipment and keeps inventory of supplies; coordinates with Maintenance Supervisor.
• Performs general maintenance on HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems; assists trades as needed.
• Mentors and directs caretaking staff; ensures keys and access are managed.
